Thank you, so much, for the suggestions. I think that I will take the suggestion of trying a few "test samples". When I cut the Runes, I will use the leftovers for this. If the linseed oil that I have on hand doesn't suffice, where would I find clear beeswax? I am assuming this is a specialty item?
20  Runes and Lore / Users Reviews / Book: Raido by Jennifer Smith on: February 15, 2011, 08:44:51 PM
Raido is my first Rune book. It is a small, but informative book that came with my pre-made Runes. I have found it very helpful, as well as interesting, for someone just starting out, like myself. She puts forth an interesting idea about the "flow" of the runes and the relationship between the three aetts of the Germanic futhark. She seems to have done a great deal of research and I would be interested to hear the opinions of others on her work.

I plan to make my own set, very soon. I've had an Ash branch laying about, waiting for me to get off my rear, for a few months now. I intend to fashion them in as traditional a manner, as possible (with the exception of using a miter saw to cut them and a soldering gun to "carve"). I am looking for a natural way to seal them after staining with the appropriate bodily fluid (blood), and was wondering if anyone knew what would be the best oil to use? The first thought that came to mind was linseed oil, but I am open for suggestions.

Hello, all, my name is Elizabeth. I want to start by thanking Grymdycche for such a cool, new site! I am fairly new to Runes, but use them every chance I get. So far, I am using them for divination, spellwork and, when needed, as protection-in the form of henna tattoos. (yea, that last one is hard to explain to the casual observer, lol) I find them a fascinating and versatile language with a wonderful "feel" to them. I look forward to learning from those more experienced and sharing what I discover as I go. I look forward to meeting everyone.  Smiley
