     Hail is the whitest of grain;

     and is tossed about by gusts of wind
     and then it melts into water.

Norwegian

Hagall er kaldastr korna;
Kristr skóp hæimenn forna

     Christ created the world of old.

Icelandic

     and shower of sleet
